His unique style quickly gained acclaim, and in 1973, he won first prize in a regional competition, leading to numerous exhibitions, including at the National Museum in Kielce and the State Ethnographic Museum in Warsaw.

Żak's membership in the Association of Folk Artists and his collaboration with "Cepelia" fortified his standing within the artistic community. His oeuvre earned him the Honorary Diploma of the Minister of Culture and Art, and his contribution to Polish folk art was further immortalized with the Oskar Kolberg Award in 1993.
