Who Is Andrzej Glod? A Creative Polish Folk Sculptor

At Folk Arts of Poland, we proudly showcase the vibrant world of Polish folk art by highlighting the remarkable work of talented folk artists like Andrzej Glod. Our platform not only features his intricate folk sculptures but also shines a light on one crucial question — who is Andrzej Glod?

Personal Life

Andrzej is a celebrated Polish folk artist born in 1959 in the charming village of Paszyn. After working for years as a carpenter in a woodworking shop, he embraced the art of folk sculpture in 1971, drawing inspiration from his uncle, the esteemed Mieczysław Piwka, while maintaining his creative individuality. Andrzej became a member of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Nowy Sącz and one of the founders of the now-defunct Miniatura Gallery.

A Blend of Themes and Mediums

His Polish folk artwork often traverses both religious and secular themes. He skillfully polychromes his folk sculptures while occasionally opting for the natural hues of his materials. His journey from wood to stone showcases his versatility.

Exhibitions and Fairs

Andrzej has participated in numerous exhibitions, where he has garnered accolades, including first prize in a contemporary folk sculpture competition in 1977. His artwork can currently be found in prestigious collections, including the Parish Museum of Folk Art in Paszyn, the District Museum in Nowy Sącz, and the Ethnographic Museum in Toruń, securing his legacy as one of the most talented Polish folk artists of our time.
